Golf Cart Solenoid

The golf cart solenoid acts as the main power relay or "master switch" for your cart's high-current circuit. When you press the accelerator, a small signal from the controller activates the solenoid, which then uses an electromagnetic coil to close a set of heavy-duty contacts.

This action connects the main battery pack to the motor controller, allowing full power to flow. A faulty solenoid is one of the most common causes of a "click but no go" situation, where you hear a single click but the cart doesn't move.
